Our Mission 

Ancaster Soccer Club (”ASC”) is a proud and supportive non-profit organization, passionately committed to the ongoing development of players and coaches, valued by our members and our communities.
The mission of ASC is to create a positive environment and supportive infrastructure in order to provide members of our community with the opportunity to develop physically, intellectually and socially through the sport of soccer.

Vision Statement

To be recognized as a premiere soccer club of choice where every player can expect an optimal learning environment with consistently superior coaching, and training facilities and where the community acknowledges that the Club consistently demonstrates its leadership in providing easy to understand and accessible player programs and volunteer opportunities which are exceptionally well conceived and organized and supported by clear timely communications.

Key Principles

In order to help achieve its mission, ASC will strive to:

  • Consistently create a fun-filled, positive experience for every participant in their respected programs and encourage the development of social aspects of the game
  • Always put the best interest of the player above all others
  • Promote sportsmanship, respect, and sensitivity to the other players, coaches, parents, and referees
  • Enhance player self-esteem, confidence, emotional development and overall character
  • Provide equal access to the highest quality and most appropriate of programs of development for both girls and boys
  • Listen and seek to understand - our customers, our team, and our sponsors.
  • Provide an environment for referees to develop skills and techniques needed to referee the game of soccer;
  • Provide an environment for coaches to develop skills and techniques needed to teach the game of soccer;
  • Be a constructive contributor to the betterment of our community
  • Assure that all adults associated with the program are exemplary role models of sportsmanship, leadership and support

Expectations of Players

Our Objective

The Ancaster Soccer Club Player Expectations establishes a clear set of guidelines for the referee, coach, player and parents/guardian. Its primary goal is to help ensure that soccer is a fun, positive and enjoyable experience.

The Player Expectations is based on the concept of fair play, defined by five basic principals:

  • Respect for the rules
  • Respect for the referees and their decisions
  • Respect for all participants, including team mates, coaches and opponents
  • Equal participation
  • Maintaining self control at all times

It is a condition of continuing Club membership that all members play within the Player Expectations at all times.

Player's Expectations:

  • I will play soccer because I want to, not because others want me to
  • I will play by the rules of soccer and in the spirit of the game
  • I will control my temper. I will not fight, argue or use bad language
  • I will respect my opponents
  • I will be a team player
  • I will remember that winning is not everything –that having fun, playing fair, improving my skills, making friends and doing my best are the most important
  • I will acknowledge all good play – those of my teammates and my opponents
  • I will accept the decisions of coaches and referees and show them respect


Games and Practices:

  • I agree that practices and games are equally important.
  • I will arrive 10 minutes before practices and 15 minutes before games unless otherwise instructed by my coach.
  • If I am unable to make a game or practice, I will notify the coach at least 24 hours in advance so that arrangements can be made for call-ups.


My Uniform:

  • I will take good care of it and wear it only on game days. I will ensure that it is clean for every game.
  • At practices I will wear comfortable and appropriate shirt and shorts.
  • I will wear shin guards and appropriate footwear for all games and practices.
  • I will remove any jewelry, watches or any item that may cause injury to me or my teammates or opposing players prior to participating in games or practices.


Discipline:

  • At all times I will show respect for the coaches, referees, teammates and opposing players.
  • Infractions that occur during the game are governed by the Laws Of The Game and will be decided by the referee.
  • Serious infractions (e.g. Referee Assault) will result in a Discipline Hearing, possible suspension form soccer and a fine being levied by the Ontario Soccer Association and / or The Hamilton & District Soccer Association. Paying any fine is my responsibility.


Resolving Problems:

Talk to the person privately. If you are upset, we recommend you wait 24 hours and then determine if you wish to pursue the issue. If you require further guidance on an issue please contact the soccer office at 905-304-1491.

Expectations of Coaches

Our Objective:

The Ancaster Soccer Club Coaches Expectations establish a clear set of guidelines for the referee, coach, player and parents/guardian. Its primary goal is to help ensure that soccer is a fun, positive and enjoyable experience.

The Coaches Expectations is based on the concept of fair play, defined by five basic principals:

  • Respect for the rules
  • Respect for the referees and their decisions
  • Respect for all participants, including team mates, coaches and opponents
  • Equal participation
  • Maintaining self control at all times

Coaches should read and discuss all the Coaches Expectations with the members (players/parents) on your team. It is a condition of continuing Club membership that all members follow the Expectations of Coaches at all times.

Coaching Expectations:

  • I will remember that the players play to have and must be encouraged to have confidence in themselves.
  • I will remember that players need a coach they can respect. I will praise and set a good example.
  • I will ensure that all players get equal instruction, support and playing time.
  • I will teach players to act fairly and respect the rules, referees and opponents.
  • I will not ridicule, show disrespect, or yell at the referees.
  • I will be selective in the amount of instructions I give players during the game.
  • I understand that I am responsible for ensuring that substitute players, bench personnel and my team’s spectators do not interfere with the game.
  • I will work in cooperation with referees.
  • I will be reasonable when scheduling games and practices, remembering that the players and their families have other interests and obligations.
  • I will be on time and prepared for games and practices.
  • I will obtain proper training and upgrade my coaching skills and knowledge of the game.
  • I will not ridicule or yell at players for making mistakes or for performing poorly.
  • I will inform parents of any injuries their child might have suffered.
  • I will dress appropriately and wear the coach shirt provided by ASC at all games and practices so that I present a professional image.

Expectations of Parents

Our Objective:

The Ancaster Soccer Club's Expectations of Parents establishes a clear set of guidelines for the referee, coach, player and parents/guardian. Its primary goal is to help ensure that soccer is a fun, positive and enjoyable experience.

The Expectations of Parents is based on the concept of fair play, defined by five basic principals:

  • Respect for the rules
  • Respect for the referees and their decisions
  • Respect for all participants, including team mates, coaches and opponents
  • Equal participation
  • Maintaining self control at all times

It is a condition of continuing Club membership that all members follow the Expectations of Parents at all times.

Parent’s Code Of Conduct:

  • I will remember that my child plays soccer for his or her enjoyment, not for mine.
  • I will NOT give instructions to players – that is the coaches job.
  • I will teach my child that doing one’s best is as important as winning, so that my child will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game.
  • I will make my child feel like a winner by offering praise for competing fairly and doing their best.
  • I will encourage my child to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
  • I will never ridicule or yell at my child for making a mistake or losing a game.
  • I will remember children learn by example. I will applaud good plays by both my child’s team and the opponents.
  • I will never question the referee’s judgment or honesty.
  • I will support all efforts to eliminate verbal and physical abuse from children’s soccer games.
  • I will respect and show appreciation for the volunteer coaches, who give their time to benefit my child.
  • I will make sure that my child shows up for scheduled practices and games at the time designated by the coach.
  • I realize that the team can be penalized for my behavior and that I must obey and order by the referee or from the team’s coach to leave the vicinity of the field.

Parents should read and discuss all the Parents Expectations with the members (players/coaches) on your team. It is a condition of continuing Club membership that all members follow the Expectations of Parents at all times.

Expectations of Referees

Our Objective:

The Ancaster Soccer Club Expectations of Referees establish a clear set of guidelines for the referee, coach, player and parents/guardian. Its primary goal is to help ensure that soccer is a fun, positive and enjoyable experience.

The Expectations of Referees is based on the concept of fair play, defined by five basic principals:

  • Respect for the rules
  • Respect for the referees and their decisions
  • Respect for all participants, including team mates, coaches and opponents
  • Equal participation
  • Maintaining self control at all times



Referees Code Of Conduct:

  • I will remember that the players play to have fun and must be encouraged to have confidence in themselves
  • I will always maintain the utmost respect for the game of soccer.
  • I will conduct myself honorably at all times and maintain the dignity of my position.
  • I will always honor an assignment or any other contractual obligation.
  • I will always ensure I am at the field at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled kickoff.
  • I will attend training meetings and clinics so as to know the Laws of the Game, their proper interpretation and their application.
  • I will always strive to achieve maximum teamwork with my fellow officials.
  • I will be loyal to my fellow officials and never knowingly promote criticism of them.
  • I will be in good physical condition.
  • I will dress appropriately and wear my uniform at all games so that I present a professional image.
  • I will control the players effectively by being courteous and considerate without sacrificing fairness.
  • I will do my utmost to assist my fellow officials to better themselves and their work.
  • I will not make any statements about any games except to clarify an interpretation of the Laws of the Game.
  • I will not discriminate against nor take undue advantage of any individual group on the basis of race, color, religion, sex or national origin.
  • I consider it a privilege to be a part of the Ancaster Youth Soccer Club and my actions will reflect credit upon that organization and its affiliates.
  • I will be subject to disciplinary action from the Club Head Referee for not complying with this Code of Conduct.


Incident Reporting:

If you are a referee or upset at a referee and wish to file an incident report, we recommend you wait 24 hours and then determine if you wish to pursue the issue. All incidents involving referees can be reported to our Head Referee and Referee Assignor, Zach Muraca, (905) 912-2816
